I am having some engine work done due to quite a bit of engine noise and loss of power.
Initial diagnosis is broken valve spring, stuck valve.....top end trouble.
looking for advice and options on what I can do that will give me a little boost in power and
possibly improve my MPG.

Liberty is a 2003 4x4 with 92000 miles on 3.7L
the most recent issues have just come up in the last week.
It has not been driven since last tuesday when I noticed some
knocking, severe loss of power and overall rough running.
It has never been seriously off-roaded...no deep water, mud.
I have kept up with regular maintenance, and it has been trouble
free up to this point.
The mechanic I have been talking to is hoping we only have broken
springs, and not anything where the valves have made contact
with the pistons. Although with the knocking that it has been making,
I am not optimistic. The strange thing about the knocking is that the
knock sensors have not registered anything as far as a CEL.

Thanks for the input.

get a good valve job and port match and polish the heads. If you go beyond that you will need larger fuel injectors, custom tuning ect.

Your other thread with the same question. Notice that both threads have similar suggestions for the work that can be done on the cylider heads.

As to getting even more power out of the Liberty...

Here's an article on getting more power out of the KJ: KY Liberty's thread on power

Here's another good topic on adding Cam's to the Liberty: Camshaft Topics

Boilermakers thread on the B&G Flash for the computer.

There is loads of information on methods available to us for increasing the power output on the 3.7L work horse.
