Post subject:  Overhead Console

I wasn't sure where to post this, so if I need to move it let me know.....

I would like to put in the overhead console with the direction, temperature, gas mileage info, etc. as I currently do not have this.
The interior piece is easy enough to get, but I have been reading around, and it seems there is a good bit of wiring and electrical
that I may not currently have.

Has anyone done this successfully, and what all is required for this upgrade?

Thanks,

if you already have the "premium" BCM, it's a piece of cake. You will have to buy the temp sensor that goes behind the grill however the wiring should already be there. The only wiring you will have to do is run 4 wires from your OBDII connector up to the evic. Doesn't get much easier for such a nice mod.

how do I find out if I have the 'Premium' BCM??
They seem to be an easy swap other than the wiring through all of the trim... would be really nice to have.

Yes, remote keyless entry = premium BCM.

One thing to keep in mind - depending on what year of OTIS/EVIC (overhead console) you get the temperature display may not function properly. On the '02-04 Libertys the temp was read from the sensor in the front grille thru the BCM, but in '05 they changed the code and the units now get the temperature info from the PCM (powertrain control module). Also since you have an '03 model the plastic mount plate is already in place - just pull your map lights out and you will see it there.

EDIT: for the install there is more info available in a thread over on KJ Country.

The link above is the best info I've found for this one. Check out the link, and follow the Click here link, or the great article link... they both take you to the same place. Iif you have specific questions, post those here, and I'll see if I have the answer for you. It really is pretty easy. (and fun)

does anyone know if it is possible to add or modify the available programs/option in the EVIC display.

I got mine from a 2000 GC.

I would really like to have the door / liftgate notification......I do have the instant MPG, though. That is pretty nice.
