Post subject:  New Lift Kit?

I am thinking about doing a lift kit for an 05 KJ sport 2WD 3.7L, I was thinking about getting a Frankenlift but I'm not sure now. Can someone give me some insight into what I should do?

what do you plan on doing with it? and how much are you willing to spend on a lift?

the frankenlift is the same as a regular OME HD lift with a couple spacers added, you can make your own a lot cheaper. both of these lifts will give you an amazing ride compered to stock, but the OME HD will cost you about $650 shipped but if you are on a budget you can get the Daystar spacer but IF you do it properly you really wont be saving that much over the OME HD and you wont like it nearly as much

Sounds like you are in the same boat that I was in. I have a 2WD 07 Sport also. I went with the Daystar 2.5" lift. Very easy to install. Gave me the lift I wanted. Since I am 2WD, not going to ever do much heavy off-roading or heavy flexing, so I felt OME was overkill for my needs.

Well, I'm wanting to get the Frankenlift, Money is no issue as I receive $1500 for school and that's just pocket money. My school is paid for and FAFSA returns with OHLAP and a Grant is awesome! I love having returns back from my college. :D Now when I get my summer money I am getting the jeep painted Metallic Silver with a Black Flake. Anyways which Frankenlift should I get? I was thinking the Frankenlift I Premium, but I don't have anyone I know that can put it on.

if it were me I would just save me some money and do OME HD and then have some money left over for 4.10 gears in the rear so I can run bigger tires or a DL in the rear.

If you want to come up to KS I could help you install it, where in OK are you from?

Man im in the southwest tip of Oklahoma, Hobart Oklahoma to be exact. Where abouts in Kansas are you? So OME huh? Hmmm is there a website I can check this out? And you lost me with the 4.10 gears lol I never said I had a M/T I have an A/T if that matters. I don't know too much about my jeep I just know what I want sort of.. :)

ok sorry I had to go and actually look at the lifts and what they come with. I would just get the Standard Frankenlift I b/c it comes with Rancho all around and some people like it better than OME b/c they say its not as soft, but either way Rancho or OME it will be good

If I got the Frankenlift, since I have to drive Estimated Time: 4 hours 23 minutes Estimated Distance: 283.05 miles to Wichita. How much would you charge to put it on?

well for one more week SE of Wichita but next Money I will be in Pittsburg.

Theres not really a site where you can just look at the OME coils, but www.dpgoffroad.com (316-776-9900) sells them for $72 each, so $288 for the 4 OME HD coils but you need to call him and order them last I talked to him he didnt have them listed on his site and then Amazon.com has the front Ranchos RSX17505 for $75 last I knew and Summit Racing had the rear Ranchos RSX17004 for $60 each, and I have some hockey pucks you could use for the rear bumpstops and then the front bumpstops are $20 each.

When you run a bigger tire your MPG will go down and you will lose some power from your engine it will feel slower and by regearing to 4.10 or since you are a 2wd you could even go 4.56 and you shouldn't lose any MPG or power loss

oh no I wouldn't charge you anything for it, but it would take me a couple hours to do with some help lol and it would depend on when you wanted to do it b/c I don't think you will get it in time before I leave for school so it would have to be so some weekend I come home, which works fine with me b/c I don't have class on Fridays so I could come home Fri morning and have till Sun night

if you got the frankenlift it is more straight forward b/c you don't have to compress the coils since they come preassembled and makes the install a lot quicker

Would I still have to have my gears changed if I get the frankenlift?

no you dont have to do a gear change at all, I have my 3" lift and 245/75 tires and Im still using my OEM 3.73 gears, but I do get crappy MPG b/c of the tires

Well I have P245/70 R16's would that cause my MPG to go down with a Frankenlift?
