Post subject:  K&N drop in

I getting a K&N drop in filter tomorrow. I was wondering how much of a difference in sound if any these filters give the engine. I doubt it will be different since it's the stock air box and all but I figured I'd ask just the same.

Sounds just the same and no real power increase. I just got rid of mine and went with the Amsoil air filter. Filters better and you don't have to re-oil it like you do the K&N. I have used K&N before on many other vehicles, but on the KJ, I kept having the MAF get coated with oil after by each oil change interval. And I know the "proper" way to oil them - or so I thought...

You shouldn't see much of a change in intake sound due to the stock air box. (which is just fine for the 3.7L)
I agree w/ the above on using an Amsoil Eaa201 drop-in air filter. Flows perfectly for the engine and actually filters the incoming air. The "gutter mod" will definately make a difference by introducing cold air to the air box, a True "CAI".

I have one and there is no perceptible difference in sound or performance.

What is this mod that you speak of. I'm very interested.
