looks like you might be able to go a little bigger with the opening of the scoop on the first gen ones budke and LTT

The next rev that I made is a little larger on the grill scoop. Sent it to Budke this week to test fit. We'll see how it works as soon as he has time to try it.

Would it be possible for this piece to point towards the fender instead of looping down? If so how much?

Sure. Not a problem at all. Let me model it up and I will post a pic to see if I understand what you are looking for. Based on the pic above, instead of from the airbox to the right and then down, you just want it to go left and straight?

I been trying to find a contact for long_tall_texan but no luck. Or a website for that cold-air-scoop.
I was examining my jeep and was evaluating fabricating something myself, til I saw this thread. Looks like all the R&D is done. Texan or anyone, please email me with where I can get these plastic parts.
Thanks

I would love to say yes, but no.... Life has "happened" and this has been on the back burner. Every time I have been asked, I think I will get to it in the next week or so, and then something else happens that takes up all my time. I haven't even been on the forum much in the last month.

The big problem, is that the model I made for the one for Budke originally no longer exists. HD on Laptop croaked and lost the data on it. That data happened to include the CAD model of the Gen 1 scoop. I still have a dumb solid STL file, but it can't be easily tweaked. So i Have to re-model it from scratch to get back to the one Budke had. Then I can tweak from there.

But I do plan to eventually get there... Hopefully sooner than later. I will keep everyone updated.

Sorry for not getting it done already.

how does this work compared to a true air intake? is this just a quick fix or did you notice a gain? i drove an all stock liberty, and my lifted liberty with cai noticed a difference in power. slight but noticeable

Just curious, but what is your CAI setup? A snorkel? Or a new tube with a cone filter? Pics maybe?

My guess is just a cone filter with tube which is sucking all the HOT air in from the engine vs. yours that gets all the COLD air from outside.
