Post subject:  I know this is stupid to ask.. 4WD conversion in a 2wd?
How ethical is it to change a 2WD to a 4WD is it worth it to just forget the idea and get a new liberty with 4WD already? Anyone got some thoughts on how hard, how much money, and what benefits would I get for doing this?

It can be done but after all said and done the loss from trading in on a 4wd would be less then what the conversion would cost.

For starters you will need.......

T-case
F/R driveshafts
crossmember
shifter with the cable
front diff
front CV's
front diff mounts
reprogram PCM for 4wd and wire in 4wd switch
The biggest cost is a new transmission or pay to have the old trans output shaft replaced with the shorter 4wd one.

All said and done about $1000-$3000 in parts then you got labor and programming.

Well I have an $8 to 10K loss in my KJ right now. If it was 2WD then it would be financially prudent to 4WD it. However, since you are already spending 3K why not budget SFA it?

cheaper just to sell and buy a 4X4, but if you want to try it again, salvages could make it more viable, I can check on some prices if you want.

:lol: I just spit pepsi all over the computer.. because of the comment...Yes come to the dark side lol well I don't know... since me and the fiance aren't talking right now because of her stupid friends I can't think clearly and I just really want to fix my KJ and sell it or trade it in that way I can get a KK cuz I love the way they look and drive.. I know what I'll do.. I'll tell the Dealer they can have my KJ and my fiance for a new KK Silver 4WD.. :wink: That right there will persuade them! :roll:

lol I have American Mercury and no...no ghetto's close by... but I think the dealership wouldn't take my fiance they'd be like hell no she's too mouthy give her back please..

She finally decided to call me after I texted her I was trading her in with my jeep to get a new jeep. Boy did she try to let me have it but I worked my magic and now she is coming over to stay the night! :wink: :twisted: I'll let yall know how that goes tomorrow!
