Hi,
Just came from one workshop, and I asked him if I can replace the mechanical fan with an electrical one, and he said yes it is easy job, and I can gain 3% of the torque.
Any one did this mods. before.

Thanks

My wife's 05 sport only came with an electrical fan, the mechanical fan was part of the towing package for extra cooling. Should be easy since it was a factory setup.

if the wiring for the elec fan thermostat is already there you should have the easiest electric fan install known to man, the manual adjustment thermostats are a pain sometimes, you should notice an imediate increase in engine acceleration

Thanks guys,
But I have 2003, and it comes with towing package, but I am towing allot, so I'll use the electrical fan from 05 or 06 Liberty,

Thanks

Towing Package will have both the mechanical fan and electrical fan.

You'll need to find a electric fan / shroud from a Liberty without the towing package.

Then remove the old setup/ replace with new and enjoy.

Yup, you already have an electric fan. The electric fan that comes on libertys without the mechanical fan has a different part # but idk what the difference is. The electric fan without the mechanical fan may be bigger since it must do 100% of the cooling. Just a guess though.

I don't know where i saw it, but i saw a mod where the mechanical fan was in the regular shroud under the hood, and someone took an electrical fan inverted it and slapped it on the outside of the radiator pushing air in. Since the radiator usually works with RAM air while driving I don't know if this would work, or if it may even hinder the cooling performance. I'm just saying find someone that knows more than me and find out, if having a set up like that'll help cooling (especially if you tow) it's worth looking into?

theres plenty push pull setups, the push fans tend to help more in alot of low speed driving conditions where you aren't getting alot of natural volume through the radiator due to your driving speed

i converted my friends 02 wrangler 4.0 mechanical to a electrical pull fan (inside) and it runs cooler than it did with the mechanical fan and it freed up some bottom end hp/tq since the engine isnt having to drag the fan along at those speeds which is probably where the cooler engine temps can be attributed to, it isn't having to work as hard

if it's possible to do, i'd go with the computer controlled fan, i personally don't like the fans with their own thermostat, they can be a pita to set correctly expecially since our temp gauges are sort of retarded

I look into 06 electrical fan, but it will not work for my 03 model, does any one has suggestion or fan that will fit in front of the radiator? I found the Ford Expedition's fan that works only with the A/C on, but I think it is too small to work every time, what about if I install 2 Expedition's Fans?

not sure aobut the expo fans, but would for instance, a fluidyne or flex-a-lite work? they're typically measured in inches and work on a variety of applications, they mount with heavy duty cinch down zips

they make them from like 10 inches to inches in the 20's

I was thinking about using a pusher fan. But there is not that much room in front of the radiator. I measured mine and I think a 6 1/2 inch fan might fit. The fanman.com has them.

You have the same model as mine, did you try to do this mod. before?
Because, I don't know the size I should get.
BTW, thanks for the links.

i have the normal electric fan on mine that it came with, mine didn't come with the mechanical

i have thought about getting the pusher fan like i linked, but i've never had transmission or engine overheat problems so it's never been a priority for me

i put a push and pull fans on my friends 02 wrangler in replacement for his mechanical and it worked good once I wired them so they wouldn't drain his battery when he turned it off

i used the same flexalite fan on 3 of my other vehicles over a span of like 10 years though and it held up very good

So you mean that you don't have towing package? right?
And let me clear it here,
- I'l just remove the mechanical fan.
- keep the pull fan as it is.
- Get a push fan and install it at the front of the radiator.
Are these setup OK?

i've got the tranny & power steering coolers but no mechanical fan

and it should be just fine as long as you get thermostats set correctly

if you got a module off of a OEM electric fan it should be possible to wire it up to any fan of your choosing, the oem's are controlled by the vehicles computer via the temp plug that is in the block rather than a temp plug in the radiator or the kind you have to push through the fins. I believe this statement is correct, TJKJ or someone will correct me I hope if i'm wrong
