i don't remember to be honest, probably a 5/16th or smaller to get the heads off the stock ones

the holes in the flare/fender were wallowed enough in most holes that i didn't have to drill anything to get the 7/16th push pin rivets in

the ones i did have to drill i just used the same small drill bit and pushed it sideways to oblong it a touch

i just removed my wheel well liner today and instead of replacing all the rivets with those type fasteners, I opted to use some stainless 1/4-20 bolts with fender washers and installed some 1/4-20 speed nuts on the liner (since you can't get to the back side of the liner when it is installed). took a little time and a trip to lowes, but i am no longer a slave to those plastic rivets! :pepper:

when i woke up this morning, i had intended to get some plastic rivets, but divine inspiration hit when in the garage! i think i may do the same with the rear since the front no longer moves and rattles around.

i had to make cut outs for 2 of the speed nuts so they could get to the original holes and i didn't think to take any pictures. i also used some never-seez so i can get them off again

Now that is sharp! I like how the stainless steel looks... very nice.

To remove the stock rivets, don't drill them, use a small punch or an awl.

Put the tip of the tool on the center of the rivet and with the palm of you hand drive the punch/awl up in to the rivet. This punches out the center of the rivet and releases it. When you pull the tool out you'll pull the rivet out of the flare with it.

It only take a second to remove a plastic rivet this way.
