I have replaced my factory fog lights on my '05 Liberty Renegade twice and twice the lenses have cracked and the lights now don't work. The mechanic at the jeep dealership told me it's cause I drive with them in the rain and the heat makes the lens crack. I think it defeats the purpose of having fog lights if you can't use them in bad weather. If I were to replace them with the Hella 500's, would I find the same problem with the lenses cracking or should I just go with PIAA or KC's?

You should be able to turn those lights on at any time you like.

Hella 500's will not crack. Ive ran mine in every possible situation with no issues.

Same here. I only use my fogs in inclement weather along with my PIAA's and never had anything crack. I think you'r mechanic is full of it :5SHOTS: :dizzy: Do you have aftermarket bulbs in your fogs? The cracking may be attributed to road debris getting kicked up and breaking your lenses. I've never had an issue with this, fortunately, because I use the clear protection film on my headlights, fogs and turn signals.

I finally replaced my stock fogs with Hella 500 FF and they outlasted the stocks. I also have the film protector & rock covers on. I always use them along with the headlights and have zero issues.

I have an 04 Liberty and my stock foglamps are below the bumper and I've found water inside them before but that's because of a water crossing or two that I did. I think that mechanic is pulling your leg too. Why aren't the headlights failing too? I suggest you go to a different garage.

You should only use your foglights on a dry, clear night.

I got my stocks good and hot one night and went into a mud hole and cracked both lenses. I thought you could only run 35watt lights as fog lights. Hella 500's are 55 watt.

I run my fogs all the time here in AL and have never had an issue. The only time that one cracked was when it was hit by a sample from a gravel truck in CA. Found a replacement on Ebay and they both work great.

No problems with my Hella 500s and I run 100w bulbs in them. Had them on for several hours w/o issues.

You can find 100w H3 bulbs in just about any auto store for less than $10 a piece. I think I got mine at Autozone on sale for $6-7 each.
