I assume that tow package equipped liberty have a class III hitch? I just put my gas tank skid on (finally) and am not 1000% on the 6 bolt thing. Would fitting a class 4 hitch be worth the trouble? Would it be possible to extend the towing capabilities of a crd with a better hitch? I mean, is the hitch the limitation? The class three is 500/5000 or 600/6000 with weight distribution, right? |

Yes on class 3 from factory. Is the CRD' towing weight rating higher than the gassers 5k# rating? |

Is the CRD' towing weight rating higher than the gassers 5k# rating? Dont think it is.. The limitation of the kj isnt the engine, tranny, hitch, etc, its the length of the jeep, weight, and the frame. You can put a class 5 hitch on it if you want but the hitch wont do anything if it gets ripped off the jeep or the trailer pushes the jeep through a wall. kj comes with a class 3. Youve got to have the 6 bolts for the weight distribution. |
