With the reflash of the PCM, how much increase in area under the curve (in TQ) can I expect? I do a fair bit of towing, and teh BG reflash seems to be teh only venue that addresses the issue.

Has anyone run pre and post dyno pulls to document the difference?

due to the flatter torque curve, when discussing RPM ranges that we actually USE :) ie: towing / crawling

at certain RPMs the increase due to those flatter curves was substantial, however

Often this means absolutely nothing at all to people who can't get past the thing called max or peak, which changed minimally as the B&G is not intended to provide dramatic peak increases, i want to say the peak increases was something like 8hp and 13 ft/lbs, increases post curve level at some ranges were over 40-50ft/lbs, the torque ramp is also about 28 degrees steeper so you get to the mean peak quicker

however it does unleash the beast when performance add-ons are installed

depending on the year KJ, according to my understanding of the newer ones you may have a combined ecm/tcm, some are separate, but then again my brain does NOT function at 7am

You can achieve increases with Jet2's, you can get increases from aftermarket performance items, however, stock electronics will choke it back and make the vehicle run less efficiently than it did before in most cases, ie: aftermarket throttlebody with stock electronics = runs great, idles like dirt and knocks off (for some), B&G corrects issues like that and actually allows them to provide their intended and unchoked benefit


I can not speak for B&G's performance for towing, I've never towed anything in my KJ other than it's on lead sled.

I've had plenty of regrets in life, buying B&Gs flash wasn't one of them

Thanks for the response. Sounds like the reflash will achieve my goal of more area under the curve. I am not too concerned with peaks, just a nice flat "curve"

I will try to get the vehicle down to the dyno before I yank the pcm for the reflash so there can be a pre and post reading.

Let us know how the B&G flash works for you.
Do you have any other performance mods?
I would love to do this when the finances allow. I currently have a homemade intake which I think did improve power slightly, as well as a cherry bomb glasspack that has been there since I bought it, but with no pipe after, so no back pressure gets built up. I want to change the muffler for a flowmaster or just a dynomax and atleast run a turn down for slight back pressure increase then maybe a fastman TB with the flash!

The only other mod I have is a SpinTech muffler. Hopefully I can spin the rollers next weekend and get a baseline curve.

if you have an auto, do a run atleast locked in 2nd then get one for 3rd with OD locked out to catch your closer to peak, 2nd gear numbers will be lower than 3rd but no biggy it's just for your reference as you change stuff

enjoy the 500 ft/lbs spikes when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd :P

typically when I run an auto trans with a lockup converter, i will jump with a temporary switch to keep teh converter locked. Eliminates the flair. Run it up into 3rd, lock up with switch, roll the pedal hard.
