Tried searching and couldn't really find my answer. Looking at putting flowmaster 40 series delta flow on the 03 and was wondering for those of you that have replaced there muffler with an aftermarket one did you see any change in mpg +or-.

my 03 has the flowmaster 50 suv series delta flow muffler. didn't see much improvement until the aem cold air intake was added with a piece of pipe running to the grille to add even more cold air. I gained at best 1.5 to 2 mpg better.
im not sure about the 40 series, im assuming its pretty much the exact same design just a different sound between 50 and 40 series deltaflow

Manly just looking not to lose any mpg with the install. Any interior drone at highway speeds with the suv 50 series? That's the other concern

The improvement is not noticeable and the reason why some lose mpg's is due to being a bit heavier on the gas pedal after installing a performance mod.

I only noticed a big difference with the exhaust, intake & chip installed all together on the highway cruising got about 19 mpg. Took the chip out after the tranny & transfer case went. Now averaging only 12.5 mpg.

What I am getting at most people pay attention to the first tank of gas useage which is where a gain in mileage may be found untill the computer learns the change. Unless of course the computer gets reprogrammed by a company like http://www.bgchrysler.com/ to get around the computer learning what is going on and making changes. I was curious if you keep a eye on your mileage and if the added gas mileage is still there even if slight.

Lets see...popped on a Borla Cat Back back in 2003, changed intake to a K&N then lifted adn bigger tires, toss on another lift and bigger tires along with chopping up the exhaust and adding a nearly 1,000 pound rear bumper...then an ARB front bumper with winch and the MPG is...oh who cars it is a jeep man! LOL. Let's face it we don't get these because of that. ;) :JEEPIN:

If anyone is still interested. My KJ is modified with a K and N cool box and a Magnaflow cat back. If I do not step on it aggressively the mileage is about 1 mile more but my
horsepower is definitely up a noticeable bit as is the torque. It has a not too loud deeper sound which I love. :JEEPIN:
