Post subject:  power steering cooler info

I have tried for several days now searching through this and other forums (and Google) trying to find some info on the power steering cooler. I have a 2004 renegade w/ 5-spd manual. I will be towing a trailer from Mass. to Fla. I understand with the 5-spd I can tow up to 3500 lbs. That’s fine, but is this rating with the p/s cooler? I don’t mind buying one and installing it if it’s worth it. I have what seems to be the hose for installing one. (It goes under my driver side head light into a u-shaped tube and back) Anyway, I can’t find pics, pricing or any other info specifically regarding this and would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

i wouldnt worry about it. i dont see how a powersteering cooler would help you tow. For automatics that tow they have a tranny cooler but you should be fine. Your power steering isnt working any harder pulling a trailer. Somebody correct me if i am wrong thats just my thoughts.

Mine does the same thing with the looping. I cannot remeber where I saw this but I know its over $100 for that cooler. I can get a new PS pump for cheaper and put it in myself in under 30min.
