I bought a used K&N CAI for the libby, cleaned and oiled the filter, but I find the CAI seems to make alot of resonance noise. The K&N came with everything except the heatshield. Would the heat shield effect the sound of the K&N CAI?

At wide open throttle it sounds great, but at idle to 1/4 throttle the resonance is very loud. Sounds like a vaccuum leak, but all fittings and hoses are connected and tight with clamps. The noise seems to be coming from the filter itself, and seems like it's resonance from all the air entering the tube. Tried taking the filter off and same noise, like a wooshing sound from the end of the intake tube. With the hood open it is actually quiter than closed.

Thinking about giving up, and putting back in the stock plumbing with a new highflow drop in filter.

Any experiance similar problems or have any thoughts on the noise?

The old Vacuum noise lol anyone with a CAI has to deal with it, or give up on the idea of a CAI. I did try one of those Gimmicky "Tornado" intake air deflector Crap jobs with the CAI. It fixed the noise but made the jeep give terrible fuel mileage.

No the shield will not lower the noise, and the sound is normal. The hissing sound is normally dampened but the airbox.
