I ran a lot of different setups until I went back to the stock box which I found to be better than any CAI etc .
I have been running this setup for 3 years or so now and works great.
Made a new one the other day and since many had requested pictures here it is, simple as falling off a log
Now I have a plate to install in there as well that if needed will block off the hose so no water etc will enter.
Is this needed, maybe not but its just another mod to do and waste time some evening :ROTFL:
The hose of course does not have to be this long but just what I use

I made one about 4 years ago using black abs plumbing elbows that go through the side of my airbox. The inside has a threaded end so that I can screw in a cap when it is wet outside. I posted it in another thread back then, but I am too lazy to find it. Here are some pics.

Yep been running mine for 3 or 4 years, just made a new one though since the old one was all cut up trying various different setups :ROTFL:

Depending on how much city/highway driving I do, I can notice from .5 to .9 mpg difference. I have also noticed it to feel more responsive when I have to hit the gas hard. If you do a setup like this, you would just need to experiment to see how you would get the most benefit.

If it is too cold outside, it seems to run a bit rough with it open. Since winter weather is unpredictable, the inlet is closed. Also, I'm really not driving it much right now except in wet weather.

you know if you put the biggest spoiler possible on the rear and install giant exhaust...say ruffly the size of a folgers coffee can some say you can gain another 100 horsepower.

Now Tom ya know the dyno only said 74 gained horsepower and 124 lbs of torque. With the way you drive there is no way ya gained 17 mpg, maybe more like 10. Quit tryin to stretch the truth :goink:
Spoiler was talked about but the added weight was thought to bring down his mileage and I do think maybe he may go with 5" duals some time here soon. :jester:

Now Tom, you know those are just stories, it was the stickers that gave you all the gains. Just think if you added a NOS sticker, you would be burning the tires off of it.

you all forgot the tribal stickers on the sides, and maybe if you repaint the kj in a "FERRARI ROSSO" color, you'll notice a diference.

What size hose are you using? This is the only thing I would ever consider for intake. Ive had various different intake systems on multiple vehicles and besides making a cool sucking noise and ruining the airflow sensors from the oiled filter they did little to nothing.

You would have gotten 100 more horsepower if you reset the ECU. lol

http://www.knfilters.com/universal/apollo.htm Well seeing how I lost my Airbox during my SAS I'm going to make something similar to that with one of these setups. They're reasonably priced and a good alternative for people who might not want to modify there stock air box.

I popped the hood during my lunch break and was about to go start buying some materials. If anyone else is interested Spectre makes some pieces that would make this extremely easy to do and very clean. Anyways, I dont see where you guys are running the end of the hose to? I wanted to go right out to the front grill but the entire thing is covered by the fan

Mines about 3.5 inches diameter

right side of the grill where Glen's is shown, rubber flap over that area

feel stupid now. that picture shows it perfectly. i was looking at work and it blocks some photos and videos so didnt know those pics where there. thanks
