Lifted 4X2s

In the old forum, there was a post that polled how many 4X2 KJs that had been lifted. Can anyone send pics of your lifted 4X2 KJs? What lft kit did you get? Did you install it yourself? How much did it set you back (for the kit and the insatllation)?

Or maybe, can anyone tell me how to view posts from the old forum site?

more pics @ http://www.cardomain.com/ride/820370/3.....Rusty's 2.5" coil lift, yes I installed it myself in the parking lot of my apt. complex (6 hrs) for the lift rims/tires/powertrax no-slip rearend and mounting and balancing of tires it was about 2200.00 total.

The old forum is sooo dead. If people didn't move threads/pictures over, they're gone now. Odds are good that people can dig up pictures again for you though. Oh, and you should totally lift yours!

Any special tools needed to instal the Rusty's coil lift? Is this different from a spacer lift? (Sorry if this question sounds silly). I was thinking of getting the RRO Combo Lift Kit. I read a few posts in this site (praising) this kit.

The only special tools would be a good spring compressor (unless you take it to a shop and have them do the front struts) and a pitman arm remover that looks likes like this:

for the upper ball joint removal from the spindle. Yes, it is different from a spacer lift because you are actually installing longer coils instead of just a spacer on top of stock coils....you also get new struts up front and new shocks in back.

Personally, I'm glad I picked the Rusty's kit...it rides much nicer than stock and haven't had a single problem with it. It has been on for about 4000 miles so far.

In the 4x4 Discussion section, there is a thread talking about choosing the "right" lift. LimitedLurker mentioned that the RRO combo kit allows you to use the stock shocks (and struts). If I am not wheeling off-road, the stock shocks and struts should last through its normal lifespan right?

2005 LIFTED 4X2

Skyjacker 3in front/2.5in rear...4 coils, 2 struts and 2 shocks.
255/70 BFG AT's & American Racing Mojave 16x8 4.50BS.
Took me about 5.5-6.0 hours to install lift, mount/balance tires and align
the front end at my shop. Lift kit $610 w/platinum rear shocks.
Wheels/Tires $1112.

Im running 31's on the rusty's 2.5" spacer kit on a prelowered liberty. the rims i got have the same offset as stock wrangler rims, so with the 31's i was rubbing on the body seem and the inside of my fenders. i hammered the body seem down flat and cut out some of the plastic fender gaurds on the inside, that eliminated alot of the rubbing, but i still have a little rub at full cut either way. i just havent had the time to finish trimming it. other than that, im very happy with the install, and i did it myself with the help of a friend.

lift - about $140
rims - $75 a piece (new)
tires $75 a piece (new)

total - about $740

and mines a 4X2.

Go to your cardomain site and right click on the picture you want to post, then click on properties. Copy the part after "address" (hhtp:blahblahblah.jpg) then come over here. Above the empty box where you type a message is a small box that says "Img". Click on that, then paste the stuff from earlier then hit the "Img" box again.

The nice thing about not going offroad is that you can fit bigger tires, because you don't have to worry about stuffing, just rubbing (which you can avoid by taking wider turns). The bad thing about not going offroad is...not going offroad.

But don't assume you can't go offroad just because your front wheels don't pull. I'm a firm believer that a 4X2 w/ a Powertrax in the rear will outperform an open 4x4 in most situations. Fact is, you need traction most when you're going up, and when you're going up it's your rear tires that need the traction.

Do you have a part number and price for the power trax no-slip. And how hard is it to put in. I am New to the Jeep life and having a open rear end is killing me when i go off roading.

hey 2wdrenne....sorry for the delay...I've been out of town....the part # for the powertrax is 9203822905. I got it from tellico4x4.com for 350.91 w/shipping.....this was my first time installing one and it was very easy, just follow the well laid out instuctions...it took about 1.5 to 2 hrs to install by myself. It works great!!

I just can't beleive that a 2.5" coil lift, lifted the liberty that high. I am getting the rusty's 2.5" coil lift and the rubicon rims and tires. Is that a good combonation?

I think the Rubicon owners know that us Liberty owners are looking for there wheels. I was on Ebay last week and the highest one I saw was like 499.99 rims and tires. Yesterday I saw that they were like 1100.00 buy it now. THERE ON TO US!!!! :lol:

Thanks for the pics and ideas. after seeing some of these 4x2's lifted, i thought what the hell not a 4x4 but can still lift. So now am planing a lift for my 04 4x2, will post pic when done in about two weeks
