Hey all just trying to start up a friendly discussion on what everyone thinks about CAI (cold air intake), hi-flow filters, and other such products. Feel free to post pics of what you guys are running and how you like them!

CAI's = waste of dollars
Stock box and a good paper filter flows better than one of the hot intakes does

That's my exact opinion of them. I just want to see what others think of them and how they like them.

I like mine.
But I didn't buy it to increase mileage or any reason other than I wanted one.
I like it it's easy to clean/ change. I also like that there is No dark box for mice to make nest's in. Every vehicle I've owned before my KK has had a mouse nest in the air box at some time.

There's been mice nests in previous air boxes? Wow that must've been some surprise to find them in there.

Not really, learned to check at a young age, starting with riding mower. Cats in the fan make more of a mess. But mice can cause a lot of damage.

Cats in the fan :shock: well mice getting sucked up into the intake could be very bad for the motor.

They are usually before the filter. But did eat/ use my dirt bikes foam air filter. I took the cover off over winter hoping to keep them out. They chewed up filter and made the nest in the rubber boot.

About 30 years ago. Now if I get one or two in my pole barn it's war!
It's still better than a chipmunk. They're worse yet .

I hate the chipmunks, they like to get into my garage. I think there's a dead one some where in there haha.

As soon as I was opening the filter box he came back into the shop and started saying "watch out there is a rubber snake in the airfilter box".He got halfway through that sentance when all you heard was me saying "holy *******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************" and then some.He laughed I did not.

It sounds pretty funny to someone else but I can imagine you were not too pleased with your finding.

I have an AFE Stage 2 intake. I only bought it because I needed the sheet metal enclosure as a surface to mount my locker air compressor. Audibly I could hear a difference right away and I hear it to this day, years after the change. I can hear the engine breathing and it sounds very happy. And it runs like a bat outta hell.

It was never dyno'd. I'm not going to say anyone else should do it. But my engine sounds and runs great. There's no way I would swap back to the stock airbox.

How's it handle when you have to ford some water? Is the filter protected enough incase of some water splashback?

Fording water isn't a huge issue where I live, though I do ford a stream every now and then. The filter is pretty well protected. I have a prefilter that I haven't felt the need to use. Dust hasn't been an issue either.
