Well i don't know how much this will help, but the outlet from the trans comes from higher and closer to the front of the trans. Hot goes to the top port and exits the bottom. It used to be done this way because of the direction the cooler coils were stacked and hooking up backwards pushed heat towards the lines carrying cooled fluid and diminished the coolers efficiency. Whether that's still true i don't know.
On a single plane cooler like most power steering coolers it makes no difference because it's just vanes set across a single loop and there is no over lap circulation.
The hot side will also spew everywhere if there's doubt, run some out
