So, you folks with a properly outfitted 4x2 satisfied?

After much needed rain here in Texas, I can still say, I ain't found a need for the 4x4 version yet. Did air down once though.

I have a "hand winch", but thinkin about the front reciever mounted kind for when my "stuck" does come.

My gas milage ain't bad either.

Awsome little rig.

I hope to add some more mods this summer.
As for now its an awesome jeep for me.

The only time I need 4wd is when I dont want to burn the tranny up(4low), my front end sinks into mud(Yea, happens all the time!), or Im going up a muddy hill and need those front tires to pull me up. Other than that, full time is nice in the snow for extra stability, and I would never get our boat UP into our yard without 4low(trust me, Ive tried 2wd).

I'd have to say I haven't been able to wheel mine yet. Down here in Corpus there are few places to do it proper. As for mileage, its hotter (humidity) than a witches you-know-what almost all the time, so its AC pretty much year round. You know what that means as far as gas goes (gulp gulp gulp - feed me Seymour!!)......
rofl

Bluesman,

Man, the bad thing about that area is Marsh ain't no place to wheel even for a tank.

If your not locked don't venture off the shoreline at Padre Seashore. I went there after being locked and it did pretty well up by the dunes without airing down or a ticket, but the 4x2 has to maintain speed. I did stop in the bottomless stuff and made it out though.

I wish there was a decent place to do some half stupid wheelin, even for a 4x4 lightweight like me. At least I could take my stock 4x2 out and get a little dirty. :(

But I do go to the beach with my Fiancee' quite a bit in the summer and plan on lettin my Libby get its paws in the sand!

Can you post a pic of your 05? I have an 06 2wd in your color. I would love to see how yours looks with the mods. Perhaps if the wife saw it, she might increase my mod budget

This is an intersting topic. I just moved to SE New Mexico from the redwood forests of Northern California. Back in Cali, I don't ever recall seeing a 4x2 liberty, driving or on the lot. There was two much snow, sand, mud, and logging trails to justify the purchase. Out here though, there are more 4x2's than 4x4's. I suppose that is because of the hard clay trails, and lack of rain. I have not really needed 4x4 since I moved here. I will by the end of the day though, becuase it is set to monsoon around here! I am hitting the trails ASAP!

I would have bought a 2wd if I could have gotten one in diesel. Bottom line is get what you want - you are the one that will be making the payments!

I got my 4x2 for the better gas milage. Then I decided to put a lift on and wished I would have gotten the 4x4, but really in Florida there is no reason for a 4x4 (at least in Miami). All the roads are paved and the only time I would really use the 4x4 is in the rain, but thats it. So I guess in the end I'm happy with my 4x2.
