Found the following companies that make a tune for the Jeep Liberty KJ.

1. Hypertech
2. B&G Performance
3. Jet V-Force Performance

I noticed that the Hypertech MaxEnergy (not the energy 2.0) looks the exact same as the B&G Performance Handheld. Are these the same thing? The other interesting thing is if you go to the Hypertech MaxEnergy product and you click download software it downloads a file call UpdateInstallV2.exe. If you go to B&G Performance and go to downloads and hit the B&G Handheld Software update, you also get a file called UpdateInstallV2.exe. The file sizes are the same.

Does B&G have a different "tune" that gets loaded versus the Hypertech tune?

Jet V-Force Performance seems to just be a piggyback system that changes signals from the MAF and such to produce power. Leaving the Hypertech and B&G Handheld as the only true OBDII reflash.

don't think the diesel tunes will help a 3.7

I know there were some specific challenges to the 3.7
best I can do at the moment - go read all of KY Liberty's posts
he drag raced his and he dyno'ed several chips/tunes

The thing I remember is that the control systems calculate the power the engine produces - based on torque converter input/output and based on that number it will reduce the power if it makes too much, so the engine control/tranny control - so you need a matched system - just plugging in parts won't work.

Found out there is a SCT Tune offered up.

I believe the Hypertech is a flash tune. What I'm concerned with is that it appears that the B&G handheld tuner (also a flash tuner) is the same as the hypertech. I believe B&G also offers the service where you send in the PCM.

SCT's flash tune is probably the best option. Probably the most similar to a cobb accessport.

Like it was already stayed I'm not sure if the handheld will remove the torque management so no matter what you do if it's enabled it will limit you.

I get that. Was just curious what the difference was between the Hyptertech handheld versus the B&G handheld.

I'm most likely going to go the the SCT Flash Tune direction. Air ram offers them and they're popular enough that local tuners here will be able to help out if there are issues.

Would be interesting if there was a Haltec or Megasquirt option.

Apparently HPtuner is available for certain years of the Liberty KJ.

Found out from Flyin Ryan (he's on a lot of dodge/Jeep forums and does dyno tuning). With HPtuner, should be able to tune the ECU as well as maybe change the shift points.

I put on a stage 1 jet piggy back unit and I think it’s a worthwhile upgrade - gained some upper hp/tq and mpg.

They have an option for the 4 Cyl. engine.

Most likely for the 4 cyl. gas engine that was used in many Jeeps.
You should call them and ask about for diesel applications as gas and diesel software's are totally different in design.
