Hello. I joined LOST a while ago but never really went anywhere with it due to life getting in the way but now that i will be walking onto my college campus for the last time tomorrow, i want a new hobby that can consume my time. I know very little about the 4x4 world. My brother has been a jeep owner since he started driving 13 years ago and recently just bought a brand new Jeep Wrangler that he custom ordered. so there is definitely a bit of some sibling rivalry. I now have to keep up my argument that Libertys are just as good as Wranglers (one argument was that since everything you do on liberty has to be more custom it's a better tinkering car, you can buy anything you want for a wrangler and just slap it on so it's like a lego car) i thought it was witty.

So for starters i have a Silver (or mother of pearl if you want to be specific) Jeep KK. 2008. So far the only things i've ever done on it is put better windshield wipers and slap on some B.F. Goodrich A/T tires.

my wish list includes

1.) a lift, i've heard in some places a 2.5 is the highest you could g. but other places i've seen 3 is fine for the joints.
2.) Bumpers and Fenders - i've seen a few posts about herculiner being applied to other parts of the car like the roof. i really want to apply it to the bumpers and fenders to accent the car a little more and also add some more toughness for the "bump" areas of the car. those fenders just feel cheap and plastic. and seem very breakable.
3.) Roof Rack / Light bar - this seems easy enough but i do need to learn how to do wiring and things like that
4.) light bar for the front end - i just don't understand how i would put it on, the bumper i would apply it too just seems like flimsy plastic, is there something i'm missing on how these people are putting their accessories on?

This list could really go on for a while and get more and more expensive as time goes on. SO, in short, i am going to try and be more active on the forum and keep up with everything. thanks to everyone wfor making this forum exist in the world.

welcome to LOST. once he starts modding his wrangler it will be more capable then the Liberty. alot of off roading has to do with the driver and the line you take. you could take the same trails and just have a higher level of difficulty to overcome the obstacles, which in my opinion is what makes wheeling fun. you can put a 4" lift on the Liberty but that is about the max. not much of an aftermarket exsist for the KK right now and the only way you will get that much lift is from a custom one you would have to make or the JBA coilover lift, both will cost more then most are willing to pay. heres an idea for a front light bar viewtopic.php?f=88&t=40021 happy modding!
