Greetings,
Well, I'm an old guy fixin' to retire. I just bought an '05 CRD. CEL came on first day as might be predicted. Threw a PO299 code.
I like jeeps and diesels. I've got a 97 Jeep TJ. Bought it while I lived in Moab the last 8 years. It has been all the cool places. I also keep a '78 Rabbit IDI diesel.
Questions:
what does the button on the console with the X do? I assume it locks the doors or windows.
how do I locate the boost pressure solenoid filter? (could that be part of the fault code)
I read A LOT before finding out CAC is charge air cooler.
Got lots more, but probably better wait.
It's good to be here.
- The X button in the center is the passenger window lockout...if it is down only the driver can roll windows up or down.
- The Boost pressure filter is on the passenger side of the engine bay near the vacuum lines and the coolant reservoir and looks like a little old school clear fuel filter.
- P0299 I believe means you boost pressure is low. Perhaps a leak in the boost system (broken/cut/hole in hose or intercooler (or CAC)?) I would also clean the boost pressure sensor (I believe it is also referenced as the MAP [Manifold Pressure Sensor]) located on top of engine near fuel rail just under the wire harness. It has a blue sticker on it and is held in by an Allen screw.
Sorry these pictures turned out big...you may have to scroll over some.
