I've finally joined the group. I have been lurking in the past, but now that I'm almost retired, I'm planing more travel and will devote some time to working on my Jeep. I use it to pull my TAB trailer and it works great! The TAB weighs about 2,000 lbs. I would like to do some mod's to the jeep for more torque and mpg. I'm very handy and have all the tools, but I'm not a mechanic. I'm going to try to determine what I'm comfortable trying. My jeep is stock. I understand that the 05's had some trouble and I'll have to go through the posts to determine what they were. I did see a post of mods for beginners like me and I'll probably have some questions about that. Anyway, I'm glad to be aboard and I'm hopeful that I'll be able to get some advice to enhance my Jeep. |

Welcome to the forum, chiseler. Not sure how far York is from Ambler, but there is a CRD member there, so you might have some local support. Is this the thread you are talking about? viewtopic.php?f=5&t=50930 One of the easiest ways to increase the mileage and torque of the CRD is to unplug the MAF sensor on the top of the airbox. It disables the EGR flow, keeping soot out of your intake and getting more oxygen into your combustion chambers. There is a lot you can do after that, too. |

Thanks for the reply linewarbr. That's the thread! I appreciate the comment about the MAF sensor. As I read the posts, it's a little confusing as to where I should start. How one thing affects another. I'll try unpluging the MAF sensor and then ask more questions later. I'll also look for the posts from York. Thanks again. |

I want to say it's mikey1273 that's in York. There's probably some other KJ owners up in your neck of the woods, but that CRD owner came to mind when I saw your location. |

Thanks, I'll look for mikey 1273 on the posts. York is about 100 miles from Ambler but at least it's the same state. I'm close to New Jersery so I'll check for members there. |

Welcome to the group! How 'bout some pics of that TAB. I've looked at those and they seem pretty nice for a small trailer. How do they tow with the Libby?

I'll post a photo of the TAB in a couple of days. I bought the CRD to pull the TAB and it's great! I had a Ford Explorer with q V6 and it couldn't tow the TAB in overdrive. I only got 9-10 mpg with the Explorer. The stock CRD would pull the TAB in overdrive and get 15-16mpg. A big difference. We've taken the TAB from PA to Vancouver and on a second trip we visited our daughter in the Teton valley. I'll just have to figure out how to get a photo launched on this site. |
