2002 Liberty running a 2003 engine.
Hey all, thought I'd make an introduction since I've been lurking in the shadows for the past month, reading and dreaming up the mods that are possible on this vehicle. It's been awesome to be able to tap into the wealth of knowledge out there and this forum has helped me make some educated choices. I've had my Lib for 3 years and currently put about 40000KM per year on her, that's alot of gas, approx. $7000 in 2010. Looking for any gas saving mods I can use right now and not to mention, I'm bored with stock. Here's what I'm running currently;
-2002Liberty Sport(211000KM when she blew) (white) with 2003 engine(160000km)
-Michelen LTX-A2- 235/70/16
-K@N Filter (homemade CAI) not sure if any gains I will be scanguageing over the next few weeks.
-Flowtech Raptor Muffler (just bought is 39.95CAD) going on tomorrow, hoping for some mpg, sound and HP, my hopes aren't to high and $39 is worth it
-New injectors (not sure brand, mechanic put them on, gotta get in and check)
-Oilpan heater (homemade, $5, ripped apart a 40watt back heater, fit perfectly over the whole pan, wattage is low but better than nothing and what can I say for $5)
-Scanguage2- just arrived today, awesome tool, reads I'm getting 19.4mpg average, not sure if its correct, I had manually calculated 12.4mpg, so that's a huge difference, I might need to calibrate abit more and run some fuel through it, or work on my math, paid $180CAD delivered and taxes.
-BlackedOut the rear and front turn signals
-Kenwood stereo/CD
-Tweeters (stock, tried to get some 3.5" in there but not going to happen without some major hacking and swearing)
-Front door (alpines 6x8's, sweezed them in, needs more work, might go back to 6.5's when funds and sales come up)
-Rear door (Sony's Explods 6x9's, hacked them in, needs more work, might go back to 6.5's when funds and sales come up)
Sounds better than stock but it will be a work in progress.
-Garmin 5" GPS
- RoyalPurple gearoil
---------------------------------------------------------------
Mod's On the Way;
Seat heaters, brother already gave me two, he worked at a parts plant and they were throwing them in garbage.
Amsoil front to back
New bumper(????)
O2 sensors on the cats, pulling up two codes on them right now so I am opting to replacing all four with NGK's
Aerodynamic work (airdam, fog/headlight covers, grille cover, possible side skirting)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Anyhow, I'll list more stuff later, this is getting messy.
One question, is there anyway to tell if you have an exhaust leak, without manually going in and tightening everything up, a couple weeks after the new engine was put in I thought the exhaust started making more noise than it originally did, it seems to be coming from up front, but very subtle, I am wondering if I have some sort of leak or something has loosened up, I visually checked everything out yesterday but she looks solid and tight, I'll be putting on my new muffler tomorrow and then doing the sensors, so I would hate to have a unchecked leak and if I did would it be affecting my performance much??? What do you recommend?
Anyone out there ever tried any dynamic aero mods on their LIB, I'd love to hear from them.
