Hello fellow jeeples. I decided to join this forum since my 'ol lady has a 2005 jeep liberty. I am not new to the Jeeping scene. I have a 1991 wrangler, lifted, locked and about to be axle swapped. Plan on being on here to see how to make the little diesel better. |

Welcome! How many miles on the Liberty and has it had the timing belt replaced? The most important question to ask first. Lots of guidance concerning this and many, many other topics and issues concerning the CRD Jeep on this forum... ![]() |

It has 142k on it now. She has owned it 4yrs. Bought it with 82k. The turbo and manifold failed at 90k, timing belt and related components was replaced(according to dealership paperwork, didn't know her then) . When I met her, belt was sqeaking, and made a rock-in-a-bag rattle noise at idle, and got worse when the a/c compressor kicked on. Took the engine cover off. All the rubber tabs where broke. Some rattle went away. Got a new gates belt today, belt was original. The fan clutch is locked up, and the fan pulley bearing is gone and shaft is bent, which was causing the pulley to wiggle and belt to sqeak. Had to call a dealership in Florida to get it. Still need to purchase a fan clutch, tensioner pulley is making some noise, and idler pulley under the alt is noisy. So I will find them also. Read thru the noob facts and cleaned the map sensor. It was fully clogged. After new fan pulley bracket assembly, and pulleys are installed, going to remove muffler and put 2.5 filler in. |
