Picked up a 2012 liberty sport 4x4 with 65,000 a few weeks ago. Loving it so far.

Installed a hitch and tow wiring, and an oil change so far.

Then drove it 2,000 miles from California to Alabama towing a trailer. Ended up driving through a ice storm in texas and crashing.

A gust of wind caused the trailer to sway and it lost traction on the ice. Ended up jackknifing and making the jeep spin and loose traction. Slid backwards into the dirt median, the trailer flipped and inbeded the tongue of the trailer into the rear hatch. Thank God we didnt flip or get hurt.

Still waiting for the insurance to contact us about fixing it. Crazy drive. Ice sucks

so its been awhile and the jeep was repaired without a dime on my end. thank God i had full coverage.

then during the trip fully loaded.

no pics from the actual crash with the trailers tongue lodged inside the jeeps hatch, but here is how we drove the rest of the 1,500 miles.

the next stop we put a tarp over the rear of the jeep beacuse we were still driving in freezing weather with ice on the road.

this was after we flipped the trailer over and got it towed to a shop to fix the wheel.

the safety chains broke, the ball reciever got twisted, the whole frame is tweaked, and it blew up the axle hub on that side.

well we got to AL safe and got in touch with a shop.

was able to get a new hatch/glass, new rear tail lights, new rear bumper cover, new interior quarter panel plastics for both sides and the interior hatch plastic. also got it resprayed from the rear doors back because the straps and tarp rubbed through the paint from the flapping on the trip.

i didnt even have to pay for my deductible becuse the rear hatch was used from another liberty. Praise God.

That's quite the story! Glad it all worked out in the end.
Maybe some better tires are in your future.
Good to hear you and your wife didn't get hurt.

Thanks man, yeah whenever these Goodrich Wranglers wear out i would like to get something a little more meaty. She daily drives this and she likes to keep it clean so i need it to be as comfortable for her and for it to keep her safe in all this rain/storms we get down here.

for good measure this was my 86 xj that i sold a few years back. (regret it ever since)

The stock tires are horrible!
I've had a little incident as well.
Literally any all terrain tire will be a million times better in incliment weather.
If you can afford it, I'd suggest the factory fog lights or an aftermarket route for mounting fogs elsewhere.

crazy that the stock tire would have such poor quality in performance while on the road.

Ive had pretty good luck with firestone all terrains on and off road. If you drive often and far in winter id recomend a more sutible tire then that junk you've got on. Those goodyear tires are complete crap on any car.

Been awhile but I got some AT’s and love them

Clock rolled 160,000 already now. Need shocks and figured I’d get a lift with it as well. Looking at the Tommudd Econo 3.5” kit. I do some towing so I’m wondering what springs/ Clevis spacer I should go with. I’m assuming that I don’t need an adjustable trac bar with this kit?
