'lo all. Traded a clapped-out 03 F-350 6.0L crew cab that wouldn't start for something a bit more practical this February. Picked up a khaki green 04 KJ Sport for a decent price, and in excellent shape! So far I've found one tiny door ding, a scratch beside the headlight, and one tiny spot of rust repair on the inside at the bottom corner of the driver's door. Aside from that, I don't think she'd ever been off pavement. The previous owner apparently came in with it on trade, and spent six or seven hours looking at every single Chevy Cruze on the dealer lot before settling on the one he wanted. I think that's a good sign, because the KJ runs like a top.

I've already picked out my lift, JBA 4" Bronze package with cut CVDs, as well as my new wheels and tires, Black Rock 997 Type 8 17"x8", 4.5" backspace, with 265/70R17 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTracs. Bigger tires means new gears, of course. Yukon 4.10s are already sitting in my garage, waiting for Eaton TrueTrac LSDs front and rear. After that, I'm thinking about a Rock Lizard roof rack. Bumpers will eventually get the treatment with ARB up front and Tommudd on the back, along with some skids. At some point, I'm going to bed-liner the rockers and the bottom of the doors, too.

As for how I spend time other than the Jeep, I've got a 98 Park Avenue Ultra that is currently out of commission with a blown #3 cylinder. That monster has cam, rockers, headers, improved supercharger and pulley, and fully-built trans. Best run was a 13.8@104. Not exactly astonishing, but good enough to be the world's fastest Park Avenue for nearly six months. I'll be yanking the motor soon, to put everything into a racing block with forged pistons. From there, it will end up either in a Sunfire or a lifted Track, since the Park Ave was already starting to lose the fight with subframe mount rust.

I also run ridiculously overpowered electric RC trucks and build large air cannons for S&G.

Yeah, man, I wanted to come, but my truck broke down out in Smelterville, Idaho the Saturday before. Ended up stranded for two days, then got towed back to Spokane, WA. Stuck in a hotel there til Wednesday, then had to spend another weekend out up in Minnesota before I could deliver that backhaul. Started off on March 29th, didn't see my own bed again til Tax Day!

I'm totally free today and tomorrow, though. I'll drop my number to you in a PM, if you want to get together this weekend. I'm just out in Pataskala, like a 15min drive from Gahanna.

That one is actually a lowered Slash 4x4, a short-course style off-road truck. I dropped it and put in a motor and speed control that can push it to well over a hundred. I'm getting ready to push it even further with an even bigger motor and speed control, shooting for 130mph+, maybe even 140mph. If the tires hold... different body, though, that one is only good for about 105mph.

The big one is my baby, though. Had it since 2009, and it's been through five different builds now. The current setup is an all-carbon chassis with aluminum differential case/suspension bulkheads, a center differential, and motor/ESC system that put out about 7hp. It will literally do a double backflip from a standing start, and it will do a single backflip at any speed up to about 30mph. The tires aren't belted, so it's limited to about 55mph in bashing form. With road tires, I could maybe top 100mph.

I'm even building a dual-motor version with two of the same systems. Close to 15hp in a truck that weighs barely 17lbs with the batteries in... 4x4, too, so with road tires, it'll out-accelerate a top-fueler through the 60'. Even with all that power, though, I'm not sure I could push much past 120mp.
