My XJ got totaled, and my Yukon wasn't cutting it. I needed a replacement Jeep that could tow, do some moderate wheeling, was reasonably economical, and was agile around town. The Liberty was the perfect answer. I have an 06 with 90k miles, bone stock when I got it.
I'm running a 2" lift, 245/75r16 (30.6") tires, and fabbing up a winch mount/bumper mount this weekend that will be tied into the frame rails internally and externally with 1/4" plate outside and 2x2 1/4" square tubing inside with a 2" wide 1/4" plate on top, in order to fill the inside of the frame rails where it will be bolted in. A JK front bumper from a buddy will be put in front of the section of tubing where the winch plate is, and JK turn signals will go in the empty round holes under the headlights.
I'll post pics when I get going with the project... time to break out the welder.

Hi Tom,

I got the TeraFlex 2" budget lift. Lining up the bottom of the font "strut"-type assembly was less than fun, but aside from that easy. Ended up using ratchet straps that I use to tie down the dirtbike on the trailer, as well as a spring compressor. Eventually I want to get something that will stand up to a bit more abuse, but the wallet and the wife said that was it for now..!

The KJ is a black Liberty Sport with the 3.7L. I have the TJ Rubicon "Moab" wheels on it, including the spare. I absolutely love it - maybe more than my old XJ.

I'll be having a go at the JK Bumper project this weekend, so I'll update when I'm done.

Thanks

Good luck with that spacer lift on there with extra weight of the winch etc.
It should be good for 5000 miles or so
At least install Teraflex bumpstops which will help a little bit

I do have the teraflex bumpstops! I'm hoping to upgrade the suspension bit by bit as the wife and the wallet allow. My first thought was the JBA upper control arms. Then beefier lift components. What other suggestions would you have?
