Hey all,

Recently came to own a 2005 kj crd. Parents bought it new, has had some problems since then. Went to my sister while I was in the army. In that time some moron put regular gas in it....basically years of abuse. Goes back to my parents and when I get out comes to me. Had been sitting for not sure how long. Sent it to get a leak in the transmission fixed and while the leak was gone, the transmission stopped working. Took it to a transmission guy I trust and ended up needing a new one. 2500 bucks later and transmission is good. But then...you know other things started going wrong. Decided I'm gonna do it myself until I'm just over my head. Came here through internet searches.gotta say, love what you've done with the place. So far unplugged the maf sensor to disable the egr. Definitely a good suggestion. Also my map sensor looked much like one would expect for surely not being cleaned in 141000 miles (really not sure when the odometer stopped working). Fuel filter is next ( I know, shoulda been sooner) and also intercooler hose (at least one) has a two finger split in it. Not moving until the hoses get here. Anyway, figured it would just be best to go ahead and join up. Love the forum. Thanks for all the help already and what I'm sure is plenty more to come.

Welcome to the Asylum!

Make sure to check in early, with whatever you're facing. In some cases original Mopar things are the best that can be had. In nearly every case, they're also the most expensive.

For many things though, someone on here has found a better and/or a more budget-conscious solution. A particular example comes to mind.. I needed a particular connector, wanted it fast, and an when I didn't get a reply from some phone calls searching, I found on online for $52 and ordered it. The next morning I got a message from a friend who had heard I was looking, and he pointed me to where I could have gotten a generic one for $7. A little patience for the experience found in here can save you a bundle.

If you haven't already, make sure to read Sir Sam's noob guide. It is absolutely worth taking the time to go through, and I've actually gone back to it for something I couldn't remember, probably half a dozen times at least.
Also, if you don't currently have a photo hosting service, get one. Many use photobucket, but as long as it doesn't require a log-in to view, it will work to post pics. These help others enormously, to help you.

Glad to have you aboard.

As Gordo stated; be sure and read the NOOB GUIDE! first.

Then ask any questions or concerns you may have about your new ride, and you will get answers from some of the most helpful and experienced CRD owners on the web...

Thank you for the advice. I've read the knob guide through a few times now. Pretty much how I figured on doing any of what I have so far. Really helpful, before that I'd never heard of any of the parts that were acting up. Definitely a great source and one ill use often.

Welcome to the forums, I hope you have a great time here! We'd love for you to post some pics of your jeep, if that's possible, of course.
Also, the car's story is pretty sad :(

Ill definitely try to do. And it has surely been abused. But I'm hoping to bring it back. Some good news, changed the fuel filter and that went fine. Changed the intercooler hose with the mishimoto replacement. About a 4 inch gash in the factory one. It's like I'm driving a brand new jeep. Happy to find my turbo is still good and it's actually fun to drive again .
