I can't remember the exact SWR I got, but it was well within tolerance - better than my previous setup on the spare wheel mount. I haven't used it in a while, and I have had my windshield replaced since, so I'm probably going to check all the cables and retune it this week if it warms up a bit. I'll let you know the SWR I get.

If you look at the top pic you can see the ground strap going into the factory rails. I popped off that section of plastic, dremelled out some of the inside to make room for the coax and ground, and attached the ground to a screw in there. I only grounded from the mount - there's a ground strap on the antenna itself but I didn't need to use that.

where did you ground it too? I used one of the bolts that attaches the rack and I get over 3 for SWR on all channles which I believe means a grounding issue. did you ground somewhere else?

so I got out the test meter and turns out the bolt I grounded too was not grounding it. I replaced it with a stainless bolt and now it works mint. I have excelletn SWR now, I'm a happy kid.

now I just need a 2' tunable antenna the 4' is tooooo long

I can't remember if I used a stock bolt on not. I'll have to pull that plastic off and take a look.

I started with the 4' too, and decided it looked ridiculous and didn't fit in the rack. Went with the 2' Wilson Silverload in the end, and it works fine for trail rides. I don't use it on the highway, so I don't really know what the range is.

with the 4' Wilson Flex 4 on the roof I get awesome SWR readings, the only 2' I could get locally was unadjustable and I get high readins on channel 40, I need to order up a 2' adjustable but my normal shop is out of them...darn it
