| Post subject: | Auxillary interface for ipod? |
I recently purchased an ipod video and was wondering about this gizmo http://www.crutchfield.com/S-BnoGQ6RYuy ... I=581DFCHR so i can listen to my ipod in the jeep. hows the sound quality and does the auxillary take the place of the cd player? or the cd changer (six disc which i don't have) just want to know a little bit about it before i buy it. thanks |

From Crutchfield: Quote: Note: The adapter is not compatible with vehicles that have factory navigation and DVD systems. The adapter takes the place of the CD changer, so you cannot have a CD changer and the adapter connected to your vehicle at the same time.
You may be able to use a CD changer with it if you buy a Chrysler multiplex splitter. However, since this auxillary adapter already supports two sources it probably has a splitter built in; your radio likely doesn't support two splitters back to back. |

I'd suggest going for the mopar one. It's more expensive, but it will let you control the iPod from the headunit controls / steering wheel controls. It has a dock connector as well as an aux input connector, so you can go either way. There's a long thread on it over at jeepkj.com |

just a suggestion, but I went with an Alpine 9857 stereo w/free iPod connection. I can control it completely from the stereo. It basically mimics the iPod's interface on the stereo. Just a suggestion |
