I used the FireStik MK-204 kit. It comes with the SS-204A mount and 18ft of coax. It's attached to the sheet metal inside the rear swinggate just above the passenger side taillight.

If you mount here, make sure you angle the mount forward a little bit so you can get at least 3 screws in, as I put mine straight up and only 2 screws reached and it has worked its way loose a few times.

I'll post a pic when I get home.

I used the same kit as Jeremy and it's working great. The main reason I went with it was so I didn't lose use of just the flip glass and there aren't any visible holes. I also like that the part of the mount the antenna connects to swivels 180 degrees so I can adjust it until the antenna is vertical. Unfortunately, all my pics didn't come out.

Jeremy- Have you tried using lock washers to prevent the screws from coming loose?

I find it hilarious that someone is actually trying to sell that... I've seen people using similar mounts, but home made. If you can't drill 3 holes in a piece of steel angle then you probably shouldn't be driving on the same road as the rest of us... ;)

I ran across that guy by accident on ebay and thought the exact same thing.

CB antenna mounted in place of the radio antenna.

This is a great mount location and it does not affect your radio reception.

Visit my cardomain site for photos.

I tried mounting mine back by the swing gate but my radio was picking up too much RFI from the fuel pump. I would have used Tokyojoe's method but I needed a mount that would stand up to a 2lb+ Hustler resonator for 75 meters at highway speed. I have an Alinco amatuer HF rig that can do the 11-meter CB band, but I think it is a bit more sensitive than most CBs on the market; at least, I haven't seen any other posts about received noise on CBs installed in KJs.

I use the one JPZKJ had fabbed up. Kilby sells it on his site now. It's super quick to install and remove (which is really handy depending on where you live or work) and it totally clears the rear glass.

Do you mount your antenna with a spring? I just ordered a quick disconnect without the spring for mine. Also, there's another thread somewhere here that mentioned antenna mounted in the rear as picking up RF interference from the fuel pump, have you come across this?

I pick up what I think is interference within the car itself (when I lock/unlock doors for example), and what I think is "normal" for CB (my SWR is down to 1.x for both channels 1 and 40, so *should* be OK if I managed to use my meter properly :D)

No spring, no interference and no swr meter to see how far off I am. Lucky so far. Aside from when I forgot to tighten the Firestick enough and it fell off and got ran over a lot. Got a Wilson now. No issues yet but I would like to tune it eventually.

If it's still the same as last time, it's not on their site. You'd have to call and talk to Scott and mention the mount.

I was wondering if CaKJFreedom was referring to the same site, because I didn't see it there.

Thanks dirty!

I just emailed Kilby last week about that same antenna mount for my new KJ. Brad said they didn't have any in stock right now but expected to get more of them soon. They'll add them to the website once they're back in stock.

Hey STFU! That's my Jeep in the pic!
For what it's worth, that's not a straight piece of steel angle. It's hard to tell from those pics but it's trimmed so only the end is angle,.. You'd have to use a grinder to make this mount. For me it was easier to buy it (well actually, I didn't buy it, I was the guinea pig for it so I didn't pay a dime, got it for free with the antenna and cable). However, I think it's worth $20 or so easy and recommend it too those without a grinder and the knowhow to make a nice smooth, straight cut.

Ahh, I didn't notice the angle had been modified. Interesting. Yeah, I guess if you don't have to tools or know-how then $20 isn't bad at all.

Hey, if it works, don't knock it.

If you think about it, by the time you do a quick layout, cut the stock, grind the edges smooth, drill the holes, prime and paint it, you've spent at least 30-45 minutes on a dorky little bracket. I'd rather spend $20 for the bracket and the 30 minutes surfing around lostkjs.com. :D
