So my ABS light went on yesterday, so when i applied the brakes at least twice, the ABS engaged for no reason then the brakes momentarily didn't work...so Mr. E-Brake was my best friend for that small period of time. On a scale of 1 - 10, how FUBARed is my ABS system...and how much am i going to pay my darn dealership for the repair. OR, is it something i can fix myself? |

OR, is it something i can fix myself? ABS system is reading 4 rotational velocity sensors at each wheel along with the output VSS (velocity speed sensor) from the transmission. It invokes selected braking governed by the computer based on the readings it is receiving from these sensors. This is especially useful when your going around curves, corners so that you don't spin out. Sine the 2 wheels closest to the curb are rotating at a velocity less than the outer two wheels. Of the possibilities that can confuse the computer is: 1) Bad rotational velocity sensor(s) at one of the wheel(s) 2) Bad transmission VSS 3) Tire size change. Since your chaning the diameter of the tire, the rotational velocity will change A wheel velocity sensor may be somewhere in the neighborhood of $45~$75 A transmission VSS will run you about $80 |

darn. looks like here i come dealership...thanks anyway man. I was just hopin that i'd have to reset the ECU since i got a new pair of tires...oh well. |
