I tried searching for this issue - but I get hundreds of pages of irrelevant posts :(

I put my GF's KJ into 4 low a couple days ago for a quick pulling chore and when I put it back into 2 Hi it's like the "part time" light has lost its mind. The light now stays ON in 2WD and it goes OFF when I put it in 4HI :? :?

I've tried going back into and out of 4 low, turning the truck on and off, backing up, going forward etc... that light just seems to have reversed its function.

On a somewhat related topic: My GF saw the bit in the owner's manual about part time 4WD VS full time 4WD and the corresponding lights and started to convince herself that she normally sees the full time light - but I'm 98% certain that she doesn't have full time 4WD and the only options are 2HI, 4HI, and 4LOW (very base model '03 4x4).

Has anyone had this problem before? Did I do something wrong?

Thanks!
Glen

I've seen a number of posts about this. I'll try to search to find them. If I remember correctly, the problem was that the transfer case sensor had gone bad. You're right in thinking that you don't have full time 4wd. If you had fulltime 4wd, you'd see that option on the 4wd lever (even the jeeps with fulltime 4wd still have the 2wd option). Hope that helps. Good luck!

EDIT: Here are the postings I found about it. I thought I had a feeling of deja-vu, because it looks like a couple of these threads also have messages from me with links to other threads. Search is a little tricky - I found them by searching for 'part time light' and selecting "must match all words". These were on the 3rd or 4th page.
