Has anyone removed the right-rear interior panel in their KJ's (the one with the cigarette lighter in it and with the cd changer one so-equipped models)? I'm wanting to put some aftermarket mods in place that aren't visible from the inside of the vehicle and it seems like a good place to put them IF there's enough room, but short of opening up the panel, it's hard to know how much room is in there. There isn't that much room back there; only a little bit of space for the CD changer and the Sirius receiver. To remove the panel just remove the upper and lower sills that run across the trunk opening and then pull the panel off working forward from the back. I've never removed the entire thing, only pulled it half way off to run some wires. Removing the entire panel requires partially removing the right-rear-door lower sill and possibly the rear seats. What kind of mods do you want to stuff in there? |

Possibly a small compressor for air tools and such (as seen in this land rover article): http://www.eastcoastrover.com/168.html. Then again, it might be just as easy to get one that has a 12v power plug and have it be portable: http://www.sunperformance.com/quick_air_1.htm ...especially since I don't have any air lockers to worry about. Dan P.S. did you ever get your serial/DC-PCI interface working? |

Well, the serial half of it works, but the PCI half doesn't. I can talk to the ELM and configure it but the ELM can't talk to the Jeep. I haven't worked on it for the past few weeks because my Liberty was at the body shop for trail damage. Now that I've got her back I'll proceed to troubleshoot. |
