Anyone use one of these? I have a handheld CB radio and the only time I take it out of the glove box is on a trail ride so range is not of great concern.

Ive got one! I only use my CB when im offroading so I didnt see the need to have a a large firestick installed. I got mine from Radio Shack, it works really well when you are on the trails... In fact it was the most tunable CB antenna I have ever had to deal with! I love mine! Good luck!!!

Thanks for the info. My usage is identical to yours. Just need a little more range on the trails.

I got a new Cobra mag mount antenna off of Ebay for under 20 bucks. Came in the mail on November 2.

I've used everything from a handheld to a 102" whip (including the window mount). I think the window mount might be better for off road use then A mag mount only because it's less likely to come off with a low clearance. It may not be as good as a magmount for longer distances but it will work fine for talking to others on the trail with you.

Thank you very much. I need a CB for trail use, but don't want an antena on the rig all the time. (it barely fits in my garage as it is)

Any links to the window mount? I got all excited and bought a magnet mount then went offroad.. That didnt end to well.. If you want to go offroad, dont get a magnet mount.

Ive got it stuck behind the spare right now with it sticking out to the left of the jeep. Looks stupid but it works for now..

Radio Shack sells the Midland Window mount antenna for about 20 bucks. They'll ship free to a store near you (if you have one nearby). for in store pick-up.

I've also seen a type that goes over the glass and is held in place when you close the window (like a trail flag). They are hard to find and only saw it one time listed on Ebay.
