Post subject: | EVIC\tire monitor retrofit help |
I am wanting to add a evic to my 2006 sport CRD that will monitor tire pressure. Is there a way to tell if I allready have the sending units in the tires short of breaking the tire down off the rim and looking at the valve stem? I have fog lights, keyless entry, steering wheel radio controls. So I assume I have the correct BCM? Does anyone know which year\model's evic's monitor tire pressure? Thanks LAB123 |

I am under the impression that unless you already had the EVIC with TPMS, you wouldn't have the sensors. Get a build sheet form your dealer they can probably tell you for sure. I have an 05 Sport and just added an EVIC with TPMS and I have no sensors. Probably won't anytime soon because of the approaching holidays--way too busy with work and woodworking Christmas presents. I look forward to January 2 when things are back to normal!!! ![]() |

If the caps on your valve stems have O-rings then you probably have TPMS sensors. To keep moisture out of the sensors, these caps are required with the TPMS. I thought TPMS sensors came in all 03-up Libertys by law.... |

I looked at the valve stem caps, they appear to have a flat faced o-ring in them, but so do the valve caps on my 93 f-150. Maybe I didn't look in the right place, or understand what you meant? Also does anyone know how to tell by looking (say at a salvage yard) if the evic's supports TPMS Thanks LAB123 |

No, that's what I meant. I have the TPMS and can take a picture of my stems and caps if you'd like. I don't think you can tell whether the overhead console has TPMS unless you turn it on. The safest bet is to find one from a Limited, because they're much more likely to have TPMS, in fact they may have it standard. Thanks for the info. If you can get pics up that would be great. |
