Does anyone have any experience with reverse gauges?

I've actually looked at those and considered buying them, but decided I like how the Limited instrument panel looks. I would say if you like it, go for it, since its just an overlay anyway.

Can't you get the OEM from jparts or some salvage place? I think these look cheap and since they don't fit snugly around the odometer, it looks odd..
that's just my opinion. I have OEM high contrast one and I like it a lot.

I'd like to know how difficult they were to install, and also... the photo appears that the guages are blueish, instead of green.. is that correct? anyone have any other photos?

Also, since someone mentioned this is an overlay, how is the fit/finished look?

I'll try to snap some pictures for you.

1. There is a switch/dial. The switch controls wether the light is Blue or Green. The dial controls the brightness.

2. They are super easy to install if you are not afraid of taking things apart. You have to take the instrument cluster hood off (not hard), take out the instrument cluster itself (4 screws), take the clear plastic off the cluster (4 push-tabs). The hardest part is the needles. You have to take them off to get the overlay in place.

The problem is that the needles are receiving no power and are at true rest, meaning they are leaning on the pins that stop their travel. once you take the needle off (use a regular kitchen fork to pry them up, the pins actually rotate past the pins. Easiest way I found to do it is to take the clear plastic cover off, plug the thing back in (unmounted) and start the KJ. Mark where the needles are when the vehicle is idling. If you let it warm up all the way, then the tmep needle is easier.

3. you need (1) positive and (1) ground wire. ground is easy. The positive you want is not hard either. On the big plug that goes into the instrument cluster, there is a green wire with a yellow stripe. It's on the top row of the plug, 2 or 3 wires in from the edge.

Ok, well... now I have more questions..

Re: switch and dial...

Would the "dim" dial mean that the dimmer on the stalk doesn't work anymore?

Another thought, is there any way to replace the lights behind the gauges and a/c controls to emit a blue color light instead of the standard jeep green?
