I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this sub.

Image

• Use exotic new laminated foam disc diaphragm for minimum thickness.
• Mounting depths just over 2" allows for extremely tight installations w/thin subwoofer enclosures.
• Install in door’s tail gates, under rear decks & other areas where woofers have never gone before.
• Size 12"
• Class Subwoofer
• Type 1 Way - Single Coil
• Technology Woofer
• Power Continuous (W rms) 200
• Power Peak (W max) 600
• Sensitivity (dB 2.83V/1m) 90 dB
• Frequency Response (Hz) 20-200
• Thiele-Small data: fs (Hz) 30 Qts 0.45 Vas (cu ft) 3.5
• Magnet Weight (oz) 40 oz
• Cone Material Aluminum Bonded Foam
• Surround Material Foam
• Mounting Depth in (mm) 2.2 in
• Blaupunkt P/N F00E440116

I was thinking this might be a good option for a sub mounted in the rear gate or under seats etc. Mounting depth is only 2" :!:

There is a 10" version as well and they can be had for around $150.

Sounds promising but I am hoping someone here has at least heard them?

I heard a set of the 10"s mounted in the doors of a civic one night (i couldn't help but chuckle to myself as he thought they were better then my orion hcca 12"s)

They sounded mediocore at best, chances are it wouldn't do all that well.

You've have to reinforce the rear swing gate panel ALOT to stop resonance and such. I'd also suggest fabbing up a sort of enclosure to seal them off from the rest of the swing gate, i know my swing gate is nowhere near sealed tight.

I beleive pioneer makes another shallow mount sub. Personally i'd take a look at the pioneer before the blaupunkt, blaupunkt is the Daewoo of the car audio world.

PIONEER TS-SW2541D is the model number i beleive you would be looking for in the pioneers.

I'm possitive they can be had for less, a 3" mounting depth shouldn't be a problem to fit either, not knowing the exact measurements to work with worst comes to worst a nicely made spacer ring could easily do the trick as well.

I beleive they work free-air as well.

Thanks for the input.. I am sort of partial to Pioneer stuff anyhow. I am just starting to look into this little project and Im still undecided on where to put the subs: rear gate, under front seats, or under rear seats. I dont need something thats going to shake the mud of the undercarriage. I just want a good clean sound with enough bass to let anyone inside the car know there are subs in there somewhere.
