I picked up a pair of 5" round 55w, 12V lights from a buddy of mine for free. I'd like to add them to the front of the jeep, but I have no idea how to go about the wiring, etc. I asked a guy at Autozone, he said I just needed some 12 guage wire to run from the battery to the switch and the lights. Anyway, I'm lost as to what to do. any help would be greatly appreciated.

for that wattage lights i would pick up a simple wiring harness kit from autozone, pepboys or similar. They usally come with all the wires, fuses, and a switch. Pretty simple install and the kit costs about $9. Instructions should be with the kit.

For wiring - it's pretty straight forward.

Red = 12v positive
Black = GND
Switch = spliced into the 12v POS wiring for signal inturrupt
Relay that is rated higher than the amperage of the lights you're installing

I can work up a simple diagram if you need it... But here is a good article online about wiring http://www.exploroz.com/Vehicle/Accesso ... Lights.asp

A good way to get started is to head to Sears or Radio shack and pick up a wiring kit that will include some connectors, crimpers / wire cutters, electrical tape. A big help for wiring is to have a multimeter on hand to check out any problems you encounter.
