Post subject:  Ordering from Crutchfield
I am thinking about ordering this from Crutchfield. (click on direct link below, pics also on the bottom)

It is a "Dual XDM7610", shown w/ a receiver kit, receiver harness, and receiver antenna adapter, and w/ free shipping this looks like an AMAZING DEAL!!

It looks like they are going to send me everything I need to install this CD deck in my Jeep? I have never put in an aftermarket deck and was wondering if what is shown is really everything I will need? Has anyone ever ordered anything from Crutchfield? It says it will fit my Jeep, but I just want to be 100% sure.

Also: I tried to find a "how to" install an aftermarket CD Deck, but didn't have any luck, has there ever been a write-up about how to do so?

I ordered my 50" Sony HDTV from them. Crutchfield is great. No experience with ordering car stereos though.

I've ordered a few different things from Crutchfield before - Fantastic Service! I've bought a few sets of speakers, two head units and some home theater equipment... The cool part about ordering car stuff from them is the instructions they send along that detail how you are supposed to remove the center bezel and install your new deck. Plus Free tech support if you are stumpped on a step.

Installing that radio will be a breeze... All you will have to do is match up the wiring between the radio harness (included in the HU box) and the adaptor harness that Crutchfield will include in your shipment. If you're not installing any amps or subwoofers - this whole thing should only take about 30 minutes to get done.

You'll need some wire crimpers, connectors and electrical tape to make that happen. So while you wait for your order from Crutchfield head to Radio Shack, Sears or anyother tool store and pick up one of those boxes of wiring equipment. It'll have everything you need in it.

Uh-oh, I did have a 12" subwoofer and amp installed last weekend w/ my stock system.........? Does this mean I will have to rewire? Or.......?

Not totally.... You will have to "adjust" 2 things


There will be a blue wire on the HU wireharness. This is the ACC wire lead - this wire will need to be routed to the amp (tucking such a small wire under plastic parts is very easy.) This wire will tell the Amp when the car is on and off, thus turning on and off your amp at the appropriate time

The other is a set of RCA cables - they will go from the pre-outs all the way back to the amplifer as well. While not as small as the ACC wire, the RCA cables can still be tucked under the plastic rather easily

The total time this will add to your install is about 1/2 hour - but only because you'll be running those extra wires.

The large 4 gauge power wire, 4 gauge GND wire & the speaker wire running between the AMP and sub will not need to be changed.

Edit: You will have to remove the RCA cables that are currently providing the source input to the amp with the stock headunit setup- if there are any. If the source input (on the amp) is just speaker wire - simply remove that stuff and tie off where the connection terminates.

I assume that the amp you got installed is to power the sub. In that case they probablely feeding the amp from tapping into the front speakers. Since the new HU has a seperate sub output, you should run a RCA cable from there to the AMP.

Please, dont get a dual headunit.

I know for 160 bucks you can get a 10x better radio then that.

Look into pioneer, eclipse, alpine, or even JVC as apposed to dual.

Dual in the car audio world is like buying a Daewoo for an automoble. Its only to be used in a last resort.

Crutchfield is great. There are only two retail stores in the world, and they are both within 30 minutes of my house. The shipping center is about 15 minutes from where I live.

I've bought all of my stuff there just because of the customer service.

Advantage of ordering from Crutchfield:

NO TAXES!

and

NO SHIPPING charges most of the time


I saved $150 in taxes and since there was no shipping I got it for the price offered (no interest no payments until 2009!). With electronic bill pay, I am set to pay it off well in advance of that dreaded interest blast in 2009.


Disadvantage: If something breaks......

I've never ordered anything that large - but don't they offer a warranty for TV's? I'm sort of in the same boat, my TV is from Best Buy but if the DLP lamp goes out, I'll have to wait for a service tech to show up with a replacement

Yes thats right, I forgot about the free shipping they usually run and the NO taxes....LOVE that part.

And i can't say enough about their customer service, as well as how fast they've shipped to me and others that I know who have ordered from them.

Crutchfield is amazing - even if something breaks they'll take care of you. I once put a screw driver thru a speaker during install and they sent me a new one and didn't even ask for the old one back.

Definitely go with crutchfield. They have good prices, great customer service, and really good instructions. I installed a pioneer head unit from them last year and it couldn't have been easier. go for it!
