Post subject:  Quick help needed from you stereo guys.
I’m in the middle of a project and have my dash all apart. I need to know which wire on the stereo is the dimmer. I was told it's the yellow and black, but I do not have that color. :x I cant drive it until get it back together. :shock:

If you used a cable adapter like Metra it should be clearly marked. If you just cut the facotory harness shame on you.

I could not find anything on the color on the stereo harness but I know that it is controlled by the multifunction switch which says OR/RD for the dimmer which I assume is orange and red. But I dont know where that connector is. You could take a test light and turn your dimmer on low the hook up the light to a wire on your syereo connector and turn it up it might take a while to find the right wire but the one that gets bright is your winner. It is more of a pain but thats one way. Good luck

Here's the wire layout for an '05 without the Infinity stereo system:

The orange wire is your dimmer control. As stated above the dimmer wire will show 0 - 12 Volts going from dim to bright respectively. If you are using a test light, it'll glow brighter as you adjust your dimmer switch (increase). Without the lights on, this wire is sometimes confused as a ground wire... which is funny because your radio will only work when you have your lights off.

Illumination ORANGE (+) RADIO HARNESS

Yeah, the steering wheel controls run into the BCM, which then talks to the radio over the PCI bus. It's actually possible to intercept are reproduce these signals, which is one of my projects right now.

Please keep us posted on that one.... Or you just buy PAC controller and slap it in between.
I have kenwood HU which accepts wired steering wheel controls through interface, which I have no way of finding (might be out of production, but there is one out there). I do not want to use the IR eye alignment, and I wanted to keep using my steering wheel controls.

CAW-CH1010 Does not list KJ but lists Cherokee (which I assume is KJ since this is EU print)
