Post subject:  Door Speakers

What size are the factory door speakers (screw center)? I have a set of four RCA 80W household speakers I robbed from my replaced surround system. Will it matter if they go from household power (110V) to vehicle power (12V)? The only thing on the speakers is the wattage and ohm rating.

stock KJ speakers are 6.5". Get some halfway decent components and a decent amp in there and they'll rattle your brains out:D

Also...there's an electronics section of the forum;)

What about installing them in my RV? The stereo runs AC/DC.

I like the discussion of speakers in the 4x4 category. I guess having your tunes is absolutely critical to offroad performance.

Depends on your taste in music.

I have an Alpine system in storage right now. The only reason i didn't put it in the Libby is i don't know where to put the amp. everywhere i try to put it, it is getting in the way of something else.

Stock speakers are 6.75. Most household stereo systems are 8ohm.. Idk what the stock system is, but is I had to guess I would say 4ohm..

These are 6ohm. I'll have to ask someone that installs for a living.

I had the infinity system in my '05 and was informed that it was an all or nothing deal (proprietary factory setup). I swapped out the whole thing. The door speakers I used were the Boston Acoustics RX67DIN models (probably considered a 6.75 round but Boston still calls them 6.5) As far as I know no adapter was needed. I used a Pioneer Premier radio Pioneer changer and an Alpine 5 channel amp. I have an Infinity 12 sub in a custom box. Maybe I'm too much of a perfectionist here but I have Infinity tweeters in the dash and they seem like just a little too much to the point of being harsh. I have some polks never used. I might just swap tweeters. The RX67DINS aren't made anymore but I still think they are great. If you can find them buy them.
