On my '04 sport (which is probably the same for all models) you have the orange passenger side airbag light which is supposed to be enabled/ disabled at a certain weight. My question is: what is that magic weight? The salesman who sold us the Jeep said it was 85lbs. My wife weights approx. 100lbs wet. Most of the time when we are driving the light is on (meaning it is disabled). If we hit a bump it goes off for a couple seconds and then sometimes comes back on. I wouldn't think it would be so sensitive to 15lbs difference. Or do I have a defective sensor or whatever controls that? Is there anyway to manually adjust that setting without having the dealership do it? Anybody else have that same problem or not? When I sit in the seat it never comes on (me being double the weight of my wife I would hope not).

Thanks

-Corey

I believe there are also two position sensors on the seat. If she's not wide enough to hit those, then the airbag will be disarmed.

Shes got her legs in the floor, which takes some weight away.

An old GF I had weighed right at 110lbs and it would come on and off depending on how she was sitting.

Ive always heard its 100lbs.

haha who knows about that little light......100 lbs would be about the right wieght i would think. Sometimes when i put my bag from school with my labtop and books on the seat the light will come on.....sometimes it wont.

We run into this same problem also. Seated bolt upright, the light remains out... however the slightest reclination of the seatback causes the light to illuminate. :( Annoying.
