I have seen a couple on here but would like to see more. Where did you mount your radio? What's the general consensus for best place to mount?

The best place is on the inside
Seriously, though. I'm planning on getting one of the all-in-handset cobra models and putting a hard-wired port for power and antenna next to the console 12v plug (beneath climate control and in front of the shift pod). The big question is where to put the antenna. Each seems to have drawbacks...

The only complaint I have is that I might end up needing an external speaker to get the best volume.

If you go with a smaller unit like the unidenpro 510, she won't even notice it is there. I will have to post a shot of where I put my mic.

Also, one thing I wish that I had done was getting a pro520 or better yet a 538 (versus my uniden pro 510). The uniden 510 doesn't have gain, nor does is have sideband (which I don't even know what that is), but I really wish that I had the waether channels which I believe are available on the 538. The 520 is maybe $10 more and the 538 is another $10 on the 520.... I paid $40 for my CB.

I will also have to get a shot of how I have done my antenna, it's like the kilby setup, and I am pleased with it. (removed one of the lug nius of the rear spare, and threaded a bar 1/2-20 with a taper, and clamped my bracket to it.... I just need a heavier duty spring.

Also, if you are going with a firestick, MAKE SURE that it shows the screw in the top, and that the packaging DOES NOT say "cut to tune". I am pleased with my setup, and after using a radioshack magnetic base antenna, I will say that the firestick is a nice antenna. www..firestik.com
