does a 2003 and earlier OTIS work or is it the same issue as with the EVIC?
i.e. must be from 2004 and up?

The OTIS should work but you will get "--" in the temperature display.

It's not mentioned on that page (sorry, I need to update it badly) but in '04 they changed the BCM in KJs and EVICs from previous years will not function correctly. I assume it will be the same for '05s.

I have come across an EVIC from a 2001 Grand Cherokee:
EVIC Part # 56042749ae

Will this work in my 2005 Liberty Renegade? I was a little confused about the previous posts

Some of the functions may work, but I'd almost guarantee that the temperature will not display correctly. If I were you I'd try to find an EVIC from at least a 2004 KJ (not an '04 WJ though, as they use the same consoles as '03 KJs.) No promises that it will work, but we know that consoles from '03 and before don't work in '04s and I wouldn't think they'd change the BCM two years in a row.

Well... the one I can get, I'm getting for only $85 so it may be worth it just to try.
I will have to ask my buddy to keep his eye out for one from a KJ to make sure that everything works :/

If you're going to try that one anyway then I'd reccommend putting together the wiring and plugging it into the OBD connector to test everything before you cut any holes in the headliner.
