I was looking into CB's and I really will only use it on the trail and wanted to get a handheld unit. I was looking at the Cobra HH 38 ST unit with the optional telescopic antenna. This should be more than enough for how close everyone is out on the trail, yes? Anyone here familiar with this unit for some feedback? Here is a link to the 2 items from above...

I'm impressed with your post years ago I had a Datsun 74 & 1/2 260Z 2+2 the car was a blast and after ariving in Denver during a high wind day a cardboard box hit the rear quarter panel snapping off the power antenna in the rear quarter panel this replacement antanna came set for CB it came from I think Radio Shack I could be mistaken this was 1978 after all I'm now considering some form of Power Antenna for Radio and CB but thinking of the proper mount point for a 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport I would add both the Power antenna and a CB to be ready for off road. I am not overly enamored with the factory location of the antenna so ideas are welcome.
Thanks
David

I have that handheld cb and have no complaints with it - I have it hooked up to a firestick on the spare and it works great on the trails and highway
