Okay got a small dilemia.. I don't think my head unit is putting out enough watts to my speakers and I want to throw an amp on them but I'm not exactly sure how to do it or go about it. Would someone like to give me a walk through on how I should do it? What amp to get? I'm thinking about putting 2 6.5" CompVT Shallow SVC 300W Kicker Subwoofers in my rear doors and getting some 6.5" infinity kappa perfects for the fronts.. but like I said I don't know how I will do this any ideas? |

Without alot of custom work on the rear doors, the volume will be too large for the 6.5 drivers. As for the Kappa Perfects, like and good Infinity speaker, they require lots of power so match your RMS rating from your amp to your speakers. Infinity's love power, they have been my brand of choice for 25 years. I am now a Focal fan for the cars but I still have my Kappa RS 8 in the house. I have a ton of Infinity stuff I have taken out of cars in boxes as well. I haev tons of Infinity merchadise as well. Kappas are power hungry and the mid-bass really need a sealed enclosure to real pull the bass from them. |

Interesting.. well you see I was thinking about doing a 6 3/4" on the doors to see how those would fit.. I've been looking it over and I believe it will fit without too much hassle.. |

I beleive 6 3/4 is the recomended size. I run 6.5 using the original baskets from the OEM speakers. |

As far as running the speakers off of an external amp, it's quite a bit of work and much more expensive than people originally think. You have to run power from the battery to the amp (4ga wire w/ fuse), you have to run RCA cables from the headunit back to the amp to get the sound signal to the amp (these can cost A LOT depending on how long they need to be and how well they are shielded from noise interference) and then finally you have to run the actual speaker wire to each of the 4 door speakers. I used to do LOTS of audio work when I was in the import scene 6 or so years ago so I could do this to a Honda in 1.5-2 hours max starting from scratch but have never tried to pull wires thru my Libby. Let me know if you do decide to do this as I'm curious just how involved it would be |
