So I goofed up on wiring some stuff and now I don't have a GPS anymore lol. Just trying to learn what went wrong.

I bought a add-a-circuit and stuck it into my cigarette lighter adapter, with a 10a fuse in the line going off. I wired in my satellite radio, and my gps. Turned the vehicle on and nothing worked. Re checked the wires and stuff, etc, still nothing. Wired back the adapters and it seems my GPS is dead, but my satellite radio works only with the cigarette lighter, not hard wired into the fuse panel. Why would the gps blow, but the satellite radio just not turn on? I picked up a new add-a-curciut, and I think I am going to get a cigarette lighter splitter, cut the male end off, and wire that in, that way I keep any circuitry in the existing adapters :S

Thanks,
Jeff

If what your saying is that you hardwired your GPS directly to the add-a-circuit instead if using the cig lighter plug then you put 12volts into sa device that probably operates on 5volts. Usually these devices have circuitry in the lighter plugs that reduce the 12 volts.
