What is the wiring harness located on the bottom of the rear fender it has a gray connector on the end of it. Nothing is plugged into it.

Are you talking about the rear passenger side behind the plastic panel of the cargo area? If so, that would be for connecting the hitch connector.

Pretty sure thats what it is.

Did you buy the Jeep used?

If so, maybe they had the plug for the wiring already outside of the Jeep on the 02's. I had to take the panel on the passenger side cargo area out to get to the plug.

I remember someone posting this on Jeep forum and it was for the hitch wiring.

No this one is on the driver side and I posted wrong it is actually on the inside of the bumper were it meets the rear fender it looks similar to the plug Ford used on the Explorer to tie trailer wiring in but I didn't think the Liberty had that I will take a picture and post it up so you can see what I am talking about. Thanks for the responses.
